Revival and Homecoming

Good morning everyone. It is another cool and rainy day in northeastern Pennsylvania.

This coming Friday through Sunday, I will be preaching revival services at First Assembly of God in Tyrone, Pennsylvania. This is also their church's Homecoming Weekend and for me this also has significance because it was 20 years ago that I served as the youth pastor of this church. (Where did all that time go?) It has been many years since I've been back and although a church can change drastically in 20 years, it will be nice to return and see some old but familiar faces. Please pray that this weekend will be challenging and encouraging for all who attend.

I was needing a comforting word today from the scripture and of course, the Bible does still speak to people today. I'm reading through Isaiah and came to chapters 7 and 8 where it talks about Immanuel, God is with us. He is with us today even when our hearts are heavy. He is in control of our future even when we don't see that far ahead. He continues to be Immanuel, God with us, no matter what the circumstances are in our life. Today, I am thankful for that truth.

God be with each of you this day.

Busy Weekend

The calendar says fall but it feels like a summer day. That makes me very happy.

This coming Friday and Saturday, I will be speaking at the Potomac District Eastern Sectional Girls Mpact Retreat in North East, Maryland. This will be held at a state park where all the girls will be tent camping....I get to stay in a cabin. :-) Please pray that the Lord will bless the words that I speak to these young girls. On Sunday morning, I will be preaching at Evangel Assembly of God in Aberdeen, Maryland and on Sunday night, I will be preaching at Calvary Assembly of God in Wilmington, Delaware. It's going to be a busy weekend and I'd appreciate your prayers as I travel from place to place.

I just finished reading through 2 Samuel this morning. David was quite a man. He was valiant on the battle field. He had an immoral relationship and committed murder. He wanted to build the Lord a temple for the Ark of the covenant to reside. He was prideful for numbering the troops in his army. Despite his many ups and downs, the Bible says he was a man after God's own heart. I take comfort in that because none of us are perfect. We all make mistakes. But if you're like me, my heart desires to be more like Jesus. May you be a person after God's own heart.

Liberty In And For Jesus

Good evening everyone. I'm afraid that today might be one of the last warmer days of the year. I hate letting go of summer but the seasons must move on.

This coming Friday to Sunday, I will be ministering at Harvest Family Fellowship in Liberty, Pennsylvania. On Friday night, I will speak to the youth, Saturday at a ladies dinner event and to the entire church on Sunday. Please pray that each service will minister to those who will be in attendance. It's a weekend of versatile ministry for me.

I'm presently reading through the book of 1 Samuel. The life of the prophet Samuel is very encouraging to me. From childhood, he served the Lord faithfully and passionately. The verse that always ministers to me is 1 Samuel 3:19 "...and the LORD was with him and let none of his words fall to the ground." I would love for that verse to be said about me...that my words would matter for Christ. To be used of God...there is nothing greater.

Time Flies

I'm going to accomplish 2 weeks worth of updates in this email because next week, I will be on vacation and I do not want to do any work while I'm away.

This coming Sunday, I will be ministering at my home church, the Green Ridge Assembly of God in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Pastor Dave Twiss always schedules me several times in the year and this is one of those weekends. Please pray that this message will prepare people's hearts as we enter into a time of communion around the Lord's table. The following Sunday, I will also be ministering in Scranton at Providence Full Gospel Tabernacle. This church is just a little ways cross town from my home church. Pastor Bob Walls has welcomed my ministry many times over the years.

I can hardly believe that it is September. I admit that I have a very hard time with allowing the summer months to slip away. The shortening of daylight each day doesn't exactly thrill me either. However, I do know that just as certain as the changing of the seasons, the love of God remains strong and sure, no matter what month the calendar says is upon us. I hope that September finds you enthralled with the beauty of not only nature, but of our Lord.
