I was reading this morning a portion of the Easter story in the Bible. Perhaps it is the devotional I use that caused me to reflect on the following thought. It would be easy for us today to say that it was Pilot, the Pharisees, Judas, the Roman soldiers or the Jews who crucified Jesus. But at its truest level, it was I who crucified my Lord. It was my sin which nailed Him to the cross. It was His love for me that held Him to the tree. I am truly grateful today for the cross of Calvary.
The words to an old hymn race through my mind:
"Lest I forget Gethsemane;
Lest I forget Thine agony:
Lest I forget Thy love for me,
Lead me to Calvary." ~ Hussey
The simple truth is that Jesus willing died on the cross for you and me. May that offer of forgiveness truly excite your soul today. May each of you have a Blessed Resurrection Sunday.
