Groundhog Town In My Sights

Good morning everyone. The calendar may say fall but summer is definitely fighting to hold on for a few more days.

This coming Sunday through Wednesday, I will be ministering at First Assembly of God in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania...yes, the home of the famous Pennsylvania Groundhog. Pastor Chris Golembiowski has opened his pulpit to me several times and I look forward to once again returning to preach the Word of God. Please pray that the Lord will do wonderful things, miraculous things in our midst! What a mighty God we serve!

I am reading through the Book of John. In chapter 10, the Bible speaks about Jesus being the Good Shepherd. Notice those two words, "Good" and "Shepherd". First, Jesus is good. There is nothing bad in Him. He longs to give His children good things in this life. Next, Jesus is our shepherd. He is not a hireling. He does not run when the wolves of this world try to destroy us, rather He stays right by our side to protect us. At times, He must gently tap us on the head with His staff to get us going in the right direction. I am grateful that Jesus is our Good Shepherd. Sheep are stupid. We need someone like Jesus to lead us on.

Stay in the fold, my friends!

Looking Unto Jesus

Good morning everyone. It's a sunshine day...at least this morning before the rain arrives later.

This coming weekend, I will be ministering at Harvest Family Fellowship in Liberty, Pennsylvania. On Saturday night, I will minister at a ladies dinner event and then to the entire church on Sunday morning. Please pray that the words I speak will touch and encourage those in attendance. People need to hear an encouraging Word from the Lord in today's society.

I am reading through the Book of Luke. Yesterday, I read about the devil tempting Jesus and of course, our Lord's victorious responses to him. The verse that strikes me is Luke 4:13, "Now when the devil had ended every temptation, he departed from Him until an opportune time." The devil is always looking for an opportune time to bring us down in defeat. That is why we must always keep our eyes on Jesus. If the devil thought he could take out the Lord, surely he is looking to take us out too. I want to be found faithful in serving the Lord. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

Going A Different Direction

Good morning everyone. It seems that the chill of fall has begun to settle into northeastern Pennsylvania. Summer is drifting away.

This coming Sunday, I will minister at New Life Assembly of God in East Greenbush, New York, where Pastor Steve Pooley leads this congregation. Please pray that the Lord will touch those who will hear the Word of God and that they will respond with love and adoration to our Lord.

On Wednesday night in my home church, my pastor was leading the Bible study and read the following verse. James 2:25
25In the same way, was not even Rahab the prostitute considered righteous for what she did when she gave lodging to the spies and sent them off in a different direction?
The Holy Spirit spoke to me through that verse that not only did the spies go a different direction, but so did Rahab for she turned from her pagan and prostitute ways to serve the One true Living God and eventually become a "great-grandmother" to Jesus Christ. When one follows Jesus today, they too must turn and go a different direction than how they once walked. Following the Lord means that one must walk against the current of this world. Jesus said, "Follow Me."

There Is Hope

Can anyone say hot? I only wish we could hold onto summer a little longer.

This coming Sunday, as has been the tradition on Labor Day weekend for the last several years, I will preach at my home church, the Green Ridge Assembly of God in Scranton, Pennsylvania. It is always a joy to bring the Word to my church family. Please pray that the Lord will use what I'm going to speak about, the concept of having HOPE in Jesus for so many people need to find that realization for themselves.

I'm reading through 2 Chronicles at the present. The story of the kings of Judah is interesting for they seem to go back and forth as to which ones served the Lord and which ones didn't. Having a godly father did not guarantee that the son would follow the Lord. It came down to a personal choice. That is true for today. Coming from a godly home or even going to church as a child doesn't mean that one will grow up to be an adult follower of Christ. It is a personal choice. As the words to the old hymn announce, "My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus blood and righteousness." That is the source of true hope.
